List of Landline Area Codes in the Philippines

Landline Area Codes in the Philippines

People who normally use the telephone as a communication device usually get confused on what to dial. Some are not aware of different area codes they should use before being able to reach or contact their family or peers situated in other regions in the country.

Unlike using mobile phones where you can talk to your contact in just a click of a finger, using the telephone also mean memorizing and dialing a series of numbers before being able to talk directly to a particular contact.

For example, if you are in Manila and you want to call someone in Cebu, you don’t simply dial the 7-digit telephone number of the person you’re calling. You should include the area code 32 before the phone number. So if you want to call the telephone number 234-2021, you dial 32-234-2021 instead.

The key is to know the area code of the telephone number you want to call. If the number you’re calling is in the same area code as yours, then you don’t need to include the area code. You can dial the telephone number straight away.

If you’re calling a landline number from your mobile phone, you will always have to include the area code, regardless of your location. So if you are in Manila and you want to call a landline number in Manila using your mobile phone, you will still need to include the area code.

For those residing outside the Philippines, you must include the country code 63 as well as the area code of the landline number. If you have the problem of memorizing various area codes in the country, we have compiled a list of area codes under each region in the Philippines.

Important things you need to remember when using a landline phone:
  • The international exit code is 00
  • The country code of the Philippines is 63
  • The Subscriber’s Numbers (without an Area Code) are 7 digits
  • When calling from abroad to the Philippines – dial “00” + 63 + Area Code + Landline Number
  • When calling a landline within the same Area Code – simply dial the Landline Number.
  • When calling a landline outside an Area Code – you have to dial “0” + Area Code + Landline Number.
  • When calling any cell phone number – dial “0” + Area Code + Landline Number.

Domestic long-distance calls to locations with the area code 2 (Metro Manila, Rizal, Bacoor City and San Pedro, Laguna) require the prefix 0 before the area code. So if you are calling Manila from Cebu, you must dial 02 + landline number. Overseas calls to these locations don’t require the prefix 0.
